Water Conversation and safe Drinking water
MSS has been playing a vital role in Jal Jeevan Mission as an ISA for the district of Varanasi and Banda Districts of Uttar Pradesh. The first phase was the “Implementation and planning phase”, which MSS has accomplished brilliantly in all its millstones in 230 gram panchayats of Banda & Varanasi District.
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has been launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, on 15th August, 2019, from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
The mission, under
implementation, in partnership with the States, aims to enable every household in villages to have Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) in the next 5 years. It is envisaged that with FHTC, each household will have potable water supply in adequate quantity (at least 55 lpcd) of prescribed quality (as per BIS 10500:2012) on regular and long-term basis. To implement the mission, institutional arrangements at various levels have been made and State's PHE / RWS Departments are to play a critical role. They have to help Gram Panchayat (GP) and/ or its subcommittee to plan, implement, manage, operate and maintain its in-village water supply systems. A sense of ownership has to be instilled in the village community as they are at the centre of this mission.
Community Based Organizations (CBOs) or Implementation Support Agencies (ISAs) for working to achieve the goal set by JJM including social development using
Participatory Rural Appraisal tools for social mapping, water resource mapping,
social auditing and similar tools. Another important role paying an ISA is to behavioural modification of the communities people, to develop sense of health & hygiene, hand wash Activity, Bank account opening, to conduct awareness rally, women and men meeting to motivate on ownership etc.
MSS ‘SEVA’ completed the task and achieved the milestones which are set by the Mission. The first phase’s milestones has completed in 230 villages of Varanasi and Banda District of Uttar Pradesh.
